Like snakes and ladders, chess or monopoly,
The question always, will I win or lose?
Maybe at Chinese chequers, snap or Totopoly.
My favourite game I used to play with my sister,
Was trying to Guess Who – with blue eyes and blond hair,
Getting into embarrassing scrapes playing twister,
Or waiting patiently with a game of solitaire.
Christmas time would mean the board game rabble,
With Trivial Pursuit or Pictionary,
The one I always avoided was scrabble,
My words never seemed to be in the dictionary.
Party games like pass the parcel,
Statues or pin the tail on the donkey,
Seemed to be ones at which I didn’t excel,
The tail always seemed to go on wonkey!
Computer games were at first quite basic,
Space invaders, Pacman or Noughts and Crosses,
Then Sega Gamegear came on the market,
Sonic the Hedgehog, the Simpsons and Super Off Road car chases.
I’ve lost count of the number of different games I’ve played,
Connect Four, Cluedo, Boggle and Mastermind,
Operation, Buckaroo, Battleships and Old maid,
But I’ll keep enjoying all and any kind.
